Longtime Bottle Manufacturer In Streator Announces Factory Closure | 103.9 WLPO | starvedrock.media
With less demand for glass bottles, the world's largest glass manufacturer is closing its plant in Streator.
O-I Glass, maybe better known as Owens-Brockway Glass, is shutting off the furnace at its Streator factory on or before Monday, November 18th. This will impact around 150 jobs.
In making the closure announcement, a management team member said in an email to employees, “We have made the difficult decision to restructure the Americas North business, impacting multiple departments outside the plants. These decisions were not made lightly and we will provide transition support to our impacted team members.”
103.9 WLPO reported back in November of 2022 that O-I was intending then to lay off more than 160 workers in Streator.
